Research Project - Classification Design Practices and User Engagement

Introduction

The number one issue for records managers in any organisation is getting people to use a records system.

The classification scheme is the part of the records management system with which users will interact most frequently.

So why is it that there is no evidence base for how classification schemes are built?

Where is the body of research that links specific classification design practices to adoption of classification schemes by users?

The bottom line is that this research doesn't exist and so this project aims to begin assembling a body of research that can help records managers understand whether standard practices in classification design are helping or hindering records sytem adoption.
